Many of the pollinator all-stars will be out in full bloom in our restored meadow at Sea Bluff Farm and in our hedgerows. We’ll walk around and learn their names and roles in the ecosystem. We’ll cover the basics in planning your site for a long season of flowers and sustenance for native species in all types of habitats. We’ll also talk about the best places to find these beauties in our local parks and how to care for them along the sides of the trails.

We’ll cover what varieties to chose, how to pick your site, how much to water and feed, methods of support and much more. We’ll show you how to prune with our tomatoes in the greenhouse. Imbalances in soil health can lead to many preventable problems. Have you ever had giant carrot tops and no bottoms? Veggies that got stunted or that didn’t taste good? Or have had outbreak after outbreak of pests? These common problems can be solved with a little understanding of soil and what plants need to thrive. N-P-K is just the beginning. Not only are they gorgeous, drought tolerant and frost hardy, native plants need places to thrive and people to care for them.  This workshop will cover the basics on what you need to start, what kinds of plants are suited to your conditions and where to sustainably source seeds and starter plants. You’ll also learn how to create habitat for butterflies and ground beetles in amongst your plants.
